Mapping Your High Schooler’s Four Year Plan
Our course offerings are designed to support parents of homeschooled middle and high school students by providing easy-to-understand resources that help lay a strong foundation for their child’s future educational progress and career development.

Course Overview
This course guides students and their families in creating a personalized, comprehensive high school plan.
Students will explore graduation requirements, college and career preparation, and ways to incorporate extracurriculars and electives to align with their interests. Through the course, they will map out core courses, electives, and other opportunities that build toward their post-secondary goals.
This planning process will help students understand high school progression, meet academic milestones, and be proactive in building a transcript that reflects their unique strengths and ambitions.
You Will Be Able to:
Understand High School Graduation Requirements:
Identify and understand the requirements for high school graduation, including required credits in core subjects (e.g., math, science, language arts, social studies) and electives.
Set Academic and Career Goals:
Outline post-high school goals, including college, technical school, workforce entry, or other aspirations, and align these with their high school coursework.
Develop a Personalized Four-Year Plan:
Create a customized four-year plan that lists required courses, electives, and extracurriculars that align with academic goals, personal interests, and career aspirations.
Explore Extracurricular and Elective Options:
Investigate extracurricular activities, volunteer opportunities, and elective courses that support personal growth and skill development.
Understand College and Career Readiness Skills:
Learn about skills and experiences colleges and employers value, including advanced coursework, dual enrollment, and vocational training options.
Track Academic Progress:
Develop tools and strategies to monitor academic progress, assess achievements, and adjust the four-year plan.
Prepare a Transcript and Portfolio:
Learn the basics of creating a high school transcript and portfolio to showcase accomplishments for college or job applications.
Key Activities:
Graduation Requirements Audit: Students will complete an audit of their state or school district’s high school graduation requirements.
Career and Interest Exploration: Students will explore careers and fields of study that interest them through assessments and guided reflection.
Four-Year Plan Drafting: Students will draft, review, and revise a four-year plan that includes all necessary credits, electives, and extracurricular goals.
Progress Checkpoints: Students will establish key checkpoints throughout high school to review and adjust their plans.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed based on the completion and quality of their four-year plan, reflection exercises, demonstrated understanding of graduation requirements, and ability to articulate future goals and pathways.
